Dear Friends. This is
Todd writing.
Christine wants to share an update, but unfortunately her
health doesn’t allow her.
A brief update:
-
Pain continues to grow worse every day. Now on quite a bit of morphine.
-
She has very little energy. She is only up four or five hours a day, mostly
in bed.
-
Time our sons and their family has been
wonderful – but frankly a bit discouraging for Christine as she gets to spend
so little time with them. Hearing the
laughter and cries of grandchildren are a blessing – and painful knowing she
won’t hear them much longer.
-
Hospice goes as well as can be expected.
-
Her eating has almost stopped … just a couple of
hundred calories a day.
God knows the number of our days – but it appears Christine’s
are very limited.
So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts
unto wisdom. Ps 90:12
Our time on earth is brief; the number of our days is
already decided by you. Job 14:15
Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be
uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve
like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. For we believe that Jesus died
and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who
have fallen asleep in him.
1 Thes. 4:13-13
We are overwhelmed (literally) by the outpouring of love and
support. Thank you for all your cards
and notes. They are so appreciated. We aren’t simply able to respond to many at
this time.
Thanks for checkin’ in – and for your prayers for my dear
bride.

Thanks for the updates. The Lord be with you in this important and heart-breaking time. In Christ, our enemy has been de-fanged. Death may growl and frighten us, but it can no longer maul us. We are not its prey. Jesus has won an eternal victory for Christine. May this give you great strength in the midst of weakness, great comfort in the midst of pain, and a blessed assurance as your dear one stands at the precipice of heaven.
ReplyDelete"O Lord, you have been a stronghold to the poor, a stronghold to the needy in his distress, a shelter from the storm and a shade from the heat...[the Lord] will swallow up on this mountain the covering that is cast over all peoples, the veil that is spread over all nations. He will swallow up death forever; and the Lord God will wipe away tears from all faces, and the reproach of his people he will take away from all the earth, for the Lord has spoken." ~from Isaiah 25
ReplyDeleteTodd, you and Christine continue to be in my prayers.
Thank you Todd for the updates and for letting us feel sadness and pain with you. There is not much that humans can say to lessen your pain. I can only pray that Jesus is in the room with Christine and fill her with peace and assurance. And may Jesus also fill your heart with courage and strength.
ReplyDeleteChris’s Victory has already been won by our Savior. Our constant prayers for your earthly comfort
ReplyDeleteWe continue to pray for Gods mighty hand of peace over you both, Christine has touched so many. My son was touched when she spoke at chapel last year at OLU and other times as well. Prayers continue for Gods peace.
ReplyDeleteChristine helped me through an impossibly difficult time in my life and lifted me in prayer. I continue to pray for her and you all and I am so thankful God helped our paths intersect.
ReplyDeleteI know you both are bathed in prayer as our faithful God provides what is needed. Grace and peace be yours in abundance.
ReplyDeleteLove you both. May His power, peace, and comfort sustain you.
ReplyDeleteTodd, you, Christine, your boys and daughters-in-love are in my prayers during this most difficult time...please give her a sweet hug for me and whisper to her that she is being lifted up by so many precious believers day and night. Praying our gracious Lord's strength, peace and rest over all of you. "The Lord will give strength to His people; The Lord will bless His people with peace." (Ps 29.11)
ReplyDeleteFor my friend, Chris... I was devastated when I read your last entry and yet I am so glad you wrote it. Thank you for your words, your faith, your ultimate grace and courage in the struggle for your life here on this earth. You are a beacon of light, albeit one reflected from Christ himself, but nevertheless, you have shown us all how to tread the path of life when there is great light and when the night becomes murky. Thank you for the friendship you always extended to me and to everyone who crossed your path. Thank you for the light in your eyes, your smile and the heartfelt warmth you radiate. I will never forget you and I will always treasure having known you. Although I take great comfort in knowing your new, next life, I will miss you. Janice Mudd
